The General Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, Reverend Chukwuemeka Ezeugo alias Reverend King, is to die by hanging, the Supreme Court affirmed on Friday.

Delivering a lead judgement, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court upheld the judgment of the lower courts which sentenced him to death by hanging.

Justice Ngwuta described the facts of the case ”like what you see in a horror movie,” stressing that Reverend King’s appeal lacks merit.

Reverend King had approached the Supreme Court to set aside the judgment of a Lagos High Court which sentenced him to death by hanging.

His application was dismissed at the Supreme at the by the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Adeniji Kazeem and the state Director of Public Prosecution, Mrs Idowu Alakija, among others.

It would be recalled that Prompt News recalls that a Lagos High Court in a judgement delivered by Justice Joseph Oyewole, had found King guilty of murder and attempted murder.
His appeal was later dismissed by the Court of Appeal which affirmed the ruling of the High Court.

Ezeugo was arraigned on September 26, 2006 on a six-count charge of attempted murder and murder.
