The crises rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, took yet another turn on Wednesday morning as policemen sealed- off the venue of the party’s national convention.
Policemen and other security operatives have denied journalists, obervers, delegates and party officials access to the venue.
The convention, scheduled to take place at the Sharks fc Stadium in Portharcourt, has attracted several litigations and court orders from groups who are either for or against the the event.
The Ali Modu Sheriff faction had approached an Abuja High Court which ordered the suspension of the convention, barring police and electoral officials from the event.
The Ahmed Makarfi faction also got a favourable order from a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt which had earlier ordered the PDP to go ahead with the convention.
Host governor, Nyesom Wike, had also relied on the Portharcourt judgement to announce that the convention would go on as scheduled, saying everything was set for the event.
While the Police authorities were yet to give reasons for sealing-off the venue at the time of filing this report, it may not be unconnected with the Abuja court order.
Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim was in the State House on Tuesday with a team of officers numbering up to 15.
While there was no official security-related event in the State House on Tuesday, it was not imnediately clear if the Police boss received an instruction on which of the court orders to obey from the Presidency.
