The National Economic Council (NEC) presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Thursday requested detailed plans by Adamawa, Nasarawa and Plateau states to access the 80 percent funding for the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP).
The three states have been listed as pilot states for the takeoff of the National Livestock Transformation Plan.
This was disclosed by Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the monthly NEC meeting.
The governor said the National Economic Council had approved that state governments willing to participate in the National Livestock Transformation Plan should submit their detailed programmes and how they would fund their 20 percent share of the scheme.
He said the states had submitted letters of intent and evidence of gazetted grazing reserves in their domains.
The NEC had in September 2019 proposed a N100 billion for the implementation of the National Livestock Transformation Plan.
Under the arrangement, federal government would bear 80 percent of the N100 billion, while participating states would support with the balance of N20 billion and land for the programme.
