The supreme court has upheld the election of Godwin Obaseki as the governor of Edo.
A seven-man panel of judges led by Walter Onnoghen, chief justice of Nigeria, gave this judgment on Monday.
The affirmation followed similar judgements by both the tribunal and appeal court in favour of Obaseki, the All Progressives Congress candidate who was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the election conducted in 2016.
The apex court rejected an appeal filed by Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the election.
Ize-Iyamu had challenged the decision of the appeal court.
The panel said it would give reasons for its decision on July 24.
