Gareth Southgate is the new full-time England manager, the Football Association (FA) announced after a board meeting on Wednesday.
Southgate, 46, has been in charge of the national team for four games on a temporary basis.
He signed a four-year contract which will take in both the 2018 World Cup and the 2020 European Championship.
The former Middlesbrough player took over from Sam Allardyce who was in charge for only a few weeks and was sacked over a corruption scandal.
