Arsenal midfielder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, was caught in a photo on Saturday hitting like on a tweet by a fan who called for his manager, Arsene Wenge’s sack.

The midfielder started in the game against Chelsea on Saturday at Stamford Bridge as the Gunners lost 3-1.

After the loss which pundits believe has extended their 13-year title drought, Oxlade-Chamberlain was caught in a picture that went viral liking a tweet by a frustrated fan.

Arsenal fans from across the globe have since Saturday turned the heat on their manager once again, blaming him for yet another season of under-achievement.

The Gunners are however still in contention for the champions league and FA Cup.

The midfielder has however claimed he “obviously” didn’t  mean to like the message regarding Arsene Wenger’s future.

Oxlade-Chamberlain said he was ‘mortified’ by the incident, and subsequently posted on Twitter to confirm that he had not meant to like the post.

“I didn’t mean to like that post earlier obviously,” he wrote. “Didn’t even realise I had!”

Arsenal are now 12 points off league leaders Chelsea and after the match Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was one of the few visitors who impressed, playing in an unfamiliar midfield role, admitted the title may now be beyond the Gunners.

“It’s slipped further out of our hands and there’s no hiding from that now. The gap is much bigger now and it’s going to be hard.

“But we play for Arsenal Football Club – if we don’t go until the end, we don’t deserve to be here. We’ve got to keep doing that,” he said.
