Strangely, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd) was absent at the meeting.

The NSA had in a leaked memo accused the Chief of Staff to the President Mr Abba Kyari of undue interference on national security matters.

Specifically, the NSA accused the Chief of Staff of issuing directives to Service Chiefs without approval of the President.

However, on Monday, the president announced the appointment of the NSA as co-chair of the National Humanitarian Coordination Committee (NHCC).

At the end of the meeting, the security chiefs headed for the office of the Chief of Staff to the President for another round of meeting.

Monday’s meeting came on the heels of calls and agitations from various quarters for the removal the Service Chiefs following renewed security crises in some parts of the country.

Those who attended the meeting were Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas; and the Inspector General of Police Mr Mohammed Abubakar Adamu.
