Imo governor-elect, Senator Hope Uzodinma, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has received the Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Uzodinma was given the certificate on Wednesday, barely 24 hours after the Supreme Court nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The apex court ordered Ihedioha to vacate the Government House immediately for the immeidate inauguration of Uzodinma.
The court panel chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad, held that INEC illegally voided valid votes belonging to Uzodinma which would have made the latter victorious during the March 9, 2019 poll.
Uzodinma is expected to take the oath of office in Owerri later today.
