Nigeria’s Super Eagles and the Samba Boys of Brazil played a 1-1 draw in the much anticipated friendly game played in Singapore on Sunday.

The encounter was the first between the two sides since 2003 when the Selecao defeated the Eagles 3-0 at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

However, it was a different ball game at the Singapore International Stadium as the two countries battled to a draw.

Nigeria got the lead in the 35th minute through Joe Aribo who dribbled his way through the Brazilian defence after receiving a pass from Moses Simon.

The former World Champions suffered a big blow as Neymar Jnr was substituted in the 8th minute as a result of injury. He was replaced with Philipe Countiho.

Real Madrid midfielder, Casemiro, struck in the 48th minute to pull the Brazilians level after making a follow up to a loose ball that resulted from an effort which rattled the cross bar.

The five time World Cup winners threatened to score a second as they mounted pressure on the Eagles defence. Countiho and Casemiro came close to grabbing the winner but narrowly missed their chances.

Nigeria lost Francis Uzoho to injury as he twisted his knee after landing wrongly from a failed effort to deal with an aerial ball.

With the result, Brazil have failed to win their four consecutive matches for the first time in 27 years.
